I recalled this morning that Canada was involved in World War II before the US was. We were still a British colony back then, and boots were already on the ground before Pearl Harbour happened.
The US government can't be arsed to get involved in anything, unless it serves their own self interests in some way. So yes, let's bolster those EU ties because once the USA takes Greenland, it's over. The NATO alliance is effectively dead in the water.
The United States has devolved into a selfish, belligerent nation, screaming on the world stage about everything being "unfair", while successive administrations are complicit in creating the situation, not just the one guy.
I wish I had cheerier thoughts.
