I acknowledge we're all upset at what is happening, but it is of utmost importance to clarify who we are upset with. We are not upset with Americans, we're upset with their Administration.

Yes, the MAGAts were 'elected', however foreign interference in another country's elections is a real thing, and should be factored in, if & when conducting a post-mortem on US democracy.

Avoid ad hominem attacks. Separate the person from the deed. Do not attack their physical features (i.e. ugly, skinny) but their actions and words. Articulate whom your target is, and what it is you actually hate.

As an example, I hate unchecked authoritarianism and rampant racism. I am upset with the people who carry out the orders of I.C.E. I am upset that Canadian companies are supporting the regime's efforts. 

It is only with the strength and support of the American people that the USA has any chance of coming out of this coup.

Propoganda

 The U.S. government is now posting altered images and promoting violence. Only dictators and regimes do that.

Dialogues

The Federal government has already taken steps to bolster our international ties and open dialogues with other nations for trade and sharing information. Canada and the rest of the world need to stop listening to the United States. The current administration is only interested in its own goals, and appears willing to rip up years of partnership, especially over NATO.

It was nice to see an elected, educated leader give a lucid, coherent speech. The buzz around the Internet right now is that Canada is getting more comfortable in the "middle power" position it currently occupies.

NAFTA

I will likely live long enough to witness the final death knell of Brian Mulroney's fucking NAFTA dream. Hallelujah.

Assumption

Exceptionalism

We Canucks are now finally able to shake off the myth of "American Exceptionalism" (thanks to Trump) and just be ourselves - a proud people who grew up believing it's important to treat others right.

I now believe that Canada was the one who was exceptional the whole time.

You cannot be an exceptional country whom just exploits and invades everybody all the time.

Pearl Harbor

I recalled this morning that Canada was involved in World War II before the US was. We were still a British colony back then, and boots were already on the ground before Pearl Harbour happened.

The US government can't be arsed to get involved in anything, unless it serves their own self interests in some way. So yes, let's bolster those EU ties because once the USA takes Greenland, it's over. The NATO alliance is effectively dead in the water.

The United States has devolved into a selfish, belligerent nation, screaming on the world stage about everything being "unfair", while successive administrations are complicit in creating the situation, not just the one guy.

I wish I had cheerier thoughts.
